Our Story
The Carriage House is a family-run bed and breakfast nestled in the heart of Dundrum, County Down. A historic seaside village with sweeping views across Dundrum Bay and the wild beauty of Murlough National Nature Reserve beyond.
Part of a much-loved family home, The Carriage House has been welcoming guests for over 25 years, passed from mother to daughter with a shared love of hospitality, comfort, and good conversation. Today, it remains exactly that: a place where guests are welcomed as friends and encouraged to slow down, settle in, and feel at home.
Inside, you’ll find cosy, traditionally styled rooms filled with books, artwork, and treasures collected from family travels around the world. Outside, the setting speaks for itself, peaceful coastal walks, ever-changing sea views, and the ruins of an Anglo-Norman castle
just a five-minute stroll from the door.
Mornings at The Carriage House begin with a generous breakfast made using locally sourced produce, perfect fuel for a day of exploring. Whether you’re here to walk the Mournes, enjoy the area’s food scene, play a round of golf, or simply breathe in the sea air, Dundrum offers something special in every season.
Located in one of the best places to live in Northern Ireland, The Carriage House is a base for travellers who value warmth, character, and a genuine sense of place, and we look forward to welcoming you.
